Natalja Kent
Light Waves is an exhibition of sculptures and chromograms by Los Angeles based artist Natalja Kent. These works explore analog processes, color and our relationship to the changing oceans. By combining movement meditation, colored light, light sensitive paper and painterly gestures – Kent reflects her feeling tones of the ocean’s presence and healing within abstract color-fields. Playful shapes, glowing forms and angles emerge and tangle across the richly layered surfaces. The chromograms – color and movement photograms – that result are both elegant and uncanny, they hearken back to her long hours spent in the ocean as a dedicated surfer and ocean activist.
