March signals a flurry of activity for the Jonathan Arts Foundation as we redouble our fundraising efforts for the year. There’s the return of our highly anticipated online auction, which will run from March 16th through to March 26th, alongside a plethora of exclusive, not-to-be-missed events. These include the Beach Club auction preview, which provides attendees with an advance opportunity to purchase a range of exceptional artworks, while four artists will take part in a plein air “Paint Out” open to members.
Then there’s all the excitement, fine dining, and erudite sophistication of our annual gala, ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful.’ The Jonathan Arts Foundation is thrilled to announce that Peter Weller, the Academy Award-nominated actor and art historian, will be in attendance at the prestigious event on March 23. He’ll be introduced by Emmy-winning filmmaker Bill Johnson before delivering the gala’s keynote speech on Italian Renaissance painting. Peter has a Ph.D in Italian Renaissance history and is known as a supremely engaging storyteller, Weller is guaranteed to set a high benchmark for an unforgettable evening.
In addition to artworks, members could bid on some highly desirable events and rewards. Alongside reciprocal club certificates, cigar collections, jewelry, and wine, four baseline tickets to the Dodgers vs Atlanta Braves game (plus parking and food) are up for grabs. Meanwhile, those looking for something more luxurious might want to bid on a catered dinner in the Moroccan dining room of Mariah Carey and Farrah Fawcett’s former Bel Air home, or treat themselves and their family and friends to a cocktail reception for 25 people at the Beach Club penthouse.
Members will be able to access the online auction portal via the link here, effective from March 16. But, for those wanting a greater chance to secure some exceptional contemporary art, the Beach Club’s advance preview will be held on Thursday, March 14. Members can purchase tickets for the preview, as well as for the upcoming gala event, via the Jonathan Club app.
Open from Saturday, March 16th until Tuesday, March 26, this year’s online auction offers more than 80 incredible works produced by over 30 different artists for Jonathan Art Foundation supporters to bid on.
It is thanks to these fundraising activities, and the engagement of our members, that the Jonathan Art Foundation can continue to acquire, preserve, and exhibit the best of Southern California art. Joseph Kleitsch’s Jeweled Hills (c. 1922), this month’s cover image, is just one example of the kind of acquisition made possible through our members’ ongoing support.

The highly anticipated culmination of all our activities is undoubtedly the annual Jonathan Arts Foundation gala on Saturday, March 23. Entitled ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful,’ this lavish, convivial event will host a variety of learned guest speakers, an exclusive docent tour, and a variety of gastronomic delights throughout the evening.
We can’t wait to welcome you on Saturday, March 23rd to celebrate the Foundation and its continuing efforts to preserve, manage, share and expand our beloved art collections.
